DTSG Assures Youths Of Opportunities To Realise Potentials

The Delta Government has assured youths in the state of more opportunities to realise their potentials.

The Chief of Staff to Delta State Governor, Hon. Johnson Erijo, gave the assurance when a delegation of the Isoko National Youth Congress  visited him at Government House, Asaba, yesterday.

He said even though poverty and hunger had forced many youths to the streets with the attendant social consequences, the state government has initiated avenues for the younger generation to reach their potentials. He explained that “in a bid to give youths in the state a sense of belonging, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori appointed over 70 per cent of them as commissioners, members of the State Executive Council and other positions in government.”

Erijo said the state government paid the 2022/2023 bursaries to students of Delta State origin in tertiary institutions across the country, while various jobs and wealth creation programmes are in place for those not in school.

He thanked the delegation for the visit and for resolving that Isoko youths would not join the nationwide protest. He said this was in appreciation of the youth-friendly disposition of the Oborevwori-led administration.

The Chief of Staff promised to remain a good ambassador of the Isoko nation in government.

He re-assured the youths that they would be carried along in the scheme of things.

Earlier, Festus Edigbe, leader of the delegation and President, Isoko National Youth Congress, described Erijo’s appointment as a great honour to the Isoko nation. He assured that Isoko youths would remain grateful and supportive to the Gov. Oborevwori-led administration.

Edigbe told the Chief of Staff that the youths resolved not to join the protest because the state government  has done a lot to encourage and support youths. (NAN)
