DTSG Challenges Associations To Drive MORE Agenda

  • As Poultry Farmers Donate 600 Crates Of Eggs To 51 Orphanages In Delta

BY PATRICK MGBODO

the Delta State Government has urged all associations within the state to follow the example set by the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) by giving back to society as contributions are crucial to accelerating the MORE Agenda.

This call was made by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza during the presentation of 600 crates of eggs by the Delta State Chapter of PAN to 51 orphanages across the state, in an event held in Asaba, yesterday.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Information, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Theresa Adiabua-Oliko, praised PAN for their generous contribution, emphasizing that governance is a collective responsibility and urged other associations to align with the MORE Agenda.

‘’the Delta State Government is appreciative of this initiative by the Poultry Association of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, to key into the MORE Agenda of the present administration by presenting this enormous palliative support to 52 orphanages across the state.

‘’Governance should be a collective effort by the government and citizens who mutually support each other in a progress cycle. On behalf of the state government, I want to thank the poultry association for this gesture and to encourage other associations to key into the vision of the government to ensure a more prosperous Delta’’, he said.

Earlier, the state Chairman of PAN, Chief Eric Tomfawei said that the distribution was their way of thanking Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting them with maize palliatives to cushion the effects of the high cost of feed bedeviling the livestock industry.

‘’On February 1, and June 13 2024, members of the PAN, Delta State Chapter, received 448 tons and 60 tons of palliative maize, respectively, from the state government. The 600 crates of eggs, which we are giving to the orphanages, are part of the produce from the maize palliative which we received from the state government.

‘’Precisely, June 13, 2024, the governor flagged off the second phase of palliatives to Deltans at Ibusa. On that occasion, we promised him that we would give back 600 crates of fresh eggs to the state as a way of showing our immense appreciation for the maize palliative which we received. Today (yesterday), we have come to fulfil that promise’’, he said.

Tomfawei further appealed to the state government to consider an upward review of the maize allocation to PAN during the second phase of the exercise, even as he stressed the influence of the association in the poultry industry in the state.

During the ceremony, a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Ese Emadifie commended the poultry association for giving back to society, just as he pledged his support to promote their activities in line with the MORE agenda.
