DTSG Committed To Health, Overall Well-being Of Deltans- SSG

DELTA State Government has reiterated its commitment to the repositioning of the State Agency for Control of HIV/AIDS (SACA) to enable it perform its duties efficiently and effectively.

The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu made this known when he played host to the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA). Dr.Temitope Ilori, who led officials of the agency on a courtesy visit to his office ,Asaba.

Dr. Emu stated that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to the health and overall well-being of Deltans and residents in the State despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country.  He equally stated that the State had the best Contributory Health Insurance Scheme in the country, which he said has made health care delivery in the State more accessible and affordable to Deltans and residents of the State.

He noted that because of the accessibility of the Contributory Health Scheme to all, it would be advisable that HIV/AIDS testing kits be included in the Scheme ,which would help in curtailing the spread of the disease in the State.

Dr. Emu assured the Director-General of NACA that the State government would continue to support SACA to ensure that the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate is reduced to the barest minimum, even as he urged SACA officials to be alive to their duties as a lot depended on them to achieve this goal.

Earlier, the Director-General of NACA, Dr. TemitopeIlori,  said they were in the State for Advocacy, while commending the State government for supporting SACA and called for more funding for the Agency to enable it bridge the gap between the urban and rural areas in health care services delivery in the State.The SSG was later inducted as Champion of HIV response Delta State.
