DTSG Exempts 10 Schools From Monday Resumption

BY JUMAI NWACHUKWU

The Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu, yesterday, confirmed that all schools across the state are to resume on September 9, 2024, for the 2024/2025 academic session, except for schools in Oshimili South, which will be used for the National Youth Games.

In a statement issued to principals and Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs), Mrs Ezewu specified that schools in Oshimili South Local Government Area affected by the games include West-End Mixed Secondary School, Junior Staff Primary School, Government Model Secondary School, Unity Secondary School, and Osadenis Secondary School, all located in Asaba. These schools are now scheduled to resume on September 23, 2024. The extension for schools in Oshimili South, according to Mrs. Ezewu, is due to circumstances specific to the area, necessitating a later start to the academic year. The Ministry’s directive has been communicated to all principals and CIEs across the state to ensure a smooth commencement of the academic session.

Meanwhile, a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Mrs Teresa Adiabua-Oliko, added that an additional four private schools would be affected by the development

The afected private schools include Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS), St Patrick’s College, , Infant Jesus Academy, and the Mastercare International as well as the Model Technical College Asaba, another state-owned school
