DTSG Moves To Align Industrial Policy With MORE Agenda

  • MDAs Convene To Validate Document

THE Delta State Government has expressed commitment to the accelerated industrialization of the state through an industrial policy that aligns with the MORE Agenda of the present administration. Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mr. Samuel Oligida,, while speaking during the Industrial Policy Review Authentication Workshop organized for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), weekend, in Asaba, said the purpose was to “validate and authenticate our state industrial policy review, ensuring its accuracy, relevance, impact and to be operationally in tandem with the MORE  Agenda of the present administration of Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori.

Oligida recalled that “our industrial policy has been a crucial framework for driving economic growth, innovation and development”, saying that “this review process has allowed us to access our progress, identify areas for improvement and incorporate new insights and strategies.”

He described the authentication workshop as a “crucial step in ensuring credibility and reliability of our policy review”, adding that the inputs of the MDAs are “essential in validating our findings and recommendations. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping a robust and effective industrial policy that drives sustainable growth, create opportunities and enhances our competitiveness.”

Those who made contributions during the workshop, included the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Dr. Barry Gbe, represented by the MD/CEO of Tri-Orchid Limited, Mr. Afam Obiago, who was also the facilitator of the workshop, Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Tonukari Nyerohovwho, SA to the Governor on Investment, Hon. Martin Ijomor. Others were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Mrs. Anthonia Ubogu and her counterparts in the Directorate of Local Government and Ministry of Environment, Mrs. Ngozi Nwanze and Mrs. Minnie Oseji respectively, Director of Industries, Ministry of Trade and Investment, Mr. Henry Ogbechie, as well as management and staff of Delta State Investment Development Agency (DIDA), Office of the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, ministries of Trade and Investment, which is the host ministry, Environment, Justice, among others.

Taking the participants on a power point presentation to put finishing touches on the draft copy of the state industrial policy review, the consultant, Mr. Afam Obiago said it is not sector-specific, but a globalized industrial policy that MDAs would derive from towards making the economy of the state better and more productive.
