DTSG Reaffirms Commitment To Quality Healthcare For Deltans

BY JUMAI NWACHUKWU

The Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has reiterated the Delta State Government’s commitment to equipping all state hospitals with qualified nurses and doctors to ensure the best quality of care for Deltans.

Dr. Akpoveta made this statement during the Commission’s visit to Owhelogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area, where 150 individuals were registered into the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI), sponsored by the family of the late Elder Joseph Ubuavame Erebe.

According to Dr. Akpoveta, the initiative of the commission was to provide top-notch healthcare services to every resident of Delta State, by ensuring that the State’s hospitals were staffed with qualified medical professionals.

“The registration of the 150 individuals into the IEAI aims to provide them with access to free, quality healthcare services. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure that vulnerable populations receive the medical attention they need.

“The support from the Erebe family is a testament to the power of community and philanthropy in driving positive change,” Dr. Akpoveta added. “Their contribution is invaluable in helping us reach our objectives and improve the health and well-being of our people”, he explained.

Dr. Akpoveta also emphasized the importance of health insurance for the vulnerable, noting that it goes beyond financial protection against medical expenses. “It ensures that every individual, regardless of their socio-economic status, has the opportunity to lead a healthy, productive life,” he said. “It provides parents with the peace of mind that their children can receive the care they need and enables individuals to seek preventive care, thereby avoiding the escalation of minor health issues into life-threatening conditions.”

The event in Owhelogbo marks a significant milestone in the Delta State Government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access and quality. As the DSCHC continues to roll out initiatives like the IEAI, the commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind remains stronger than ever.

Dr. Akpoveta called on stakeholders, especially those in the diaspora, to support initiatives aimed at expanding healthcare access across Delta State. “Together, we can build a healthier, more prosperous future for our state where every individual has the opportunity to thrive,” he concluded.
