THE Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to the M.O.R.E. Agenda, especially in enhancing peace and security across the state, as it is needed to fast-track investments.
With regards to oil and gas investments, the government said enhanced peace and security will help to boost oil and gas production, also stating that this is a priority.
The Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda in the state capital, Asaba.
Uviejitobor used the opportunity to seek a renewed synergy with the government in line with its M.O.R.E Agenda to create an enabling and peaceful environment for businesses to thrive for meaningful development.
“We seek collaboration so that we can maintain the already existing peace in the state”.
He stated that “it is our priority to maintain our position as the highest oil producing state in the country”, adding that he is out to re-organise and strengthen the oil and gas industry in the state to boost the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). Meanwhile, Uviejitobor urged host communities and oil companies operating within the state to embrace peace, unity and shun greed to avoid crisis in their communities.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, assured him of their support in enhancing peace and security within the state.
Olufemi said that it was their responsibility to work in conjunction with other stakeholders to protect Deltans and physical infrastructures in the state.
“For us, it is a national duty to secure Nigerians and our natural resources so as to boost the nation’s economy for the overall growth and development of our nation”.
“What we produce has a bearing on what we receive as revenue, so our responsibility to Deltans is to maintain high production levels through security provision for seamless oil and gas operations in the state.
