DTSG Reiterates Warning Against Cultism, Drug Abuse, Illegal Migration

DELTA State Government yesterday, warned youths in the state to desist from activities that could ruin their lives.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Trakiriowei ThankGod gave the advice during a road walk against youth involvement in crime and social vices, such as drug abuse, illegal migration and cultism.

Trakiriowei urged them to channel their energies to meaningful ventures and not acts that could bring shame to their families.

He said with all the platforms made available for investment and to enable them strive in their studies/skills, youths in the state have no reason to engage in social vices.

According to the commissioner, the exercise was aimed at sensitizing youths across the state against social vices.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Ngozi Mogbolu charged youths to embrace positive ideas for a  bright future.

Mogbolu admonished them to take advantage of legitimate endeavours online rather than involve themselves in cyber and related crimes.

She said the ministry is prepared to strengthen moral values in youths while urging them to be part of the vision for a greater Delta State.

During the fitness exercise, the commissioner led youths on a  walk within Asaba, the state capital. There was a pep talk   on dangers of drug abuse, Internet fraud, illegal bunkering, all forms of violence and negative association as the youths marched through Asaba metropolis.
