THE candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has released what he described as an all-inclusive manifesto for the growth and prosperity of the state.
The manifesto titled “The Pathway to Prosperity for All”, revealed “a well thought out plan” by Ighodalo geared towards the development of the state if voted into power.
The candidate in the manifesto identified “where the state is, where he wants it to be and what he will do to get there”. The critical areas the document seeks to address are security, infrastructure development, healthcare delivery, education, employment and more, “that promises to positively lift the living standard of the people and spread prosperity among them”, he said.
The document focuses on economic transformation that will involve the diversification of the economy, promote industrialization and create jobs.
In tackling infrastructural development, Ighodalo promises to improve road networks, water supply and electricity. On education, “the focus will be to revamp the education sector, improve teacher training, and increase access to quality education.
The focal point for healthcare delivery, according to the manifesto, is improving healthcare services, and reducing infant mortality.
It was noted that security had always been at the front burner of Ighodalo’s plans. He was always of the opinion that “once a government can ensure the safety and security of all citizens, tackle kidnapping and armed robbery, a lot of things will fall in place.
