THE Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed the 2025 budget estimates of N676bn as against the N605bn presented to the House by Governor Monday Okpekholo.
The governor on December 10, 2024, presented the 2025 budget estimates of N605bn tagged budget of “Renewed hope for a rising Edo” to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
The passage of the 2025 approved budget by the House comprises a recurrent expenditure estimate of N225bn and a capital expenditure estimate of N451billion respectively.
The passage of the budget was a sequel to the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Appropriation, budget and Project Monitoring on the year 2025 appropriation bill presented by the chairman House Committee on Appropriation and Project Monitoring, Hon Sunday Fada during plenary.
Hon Fada said during the budget consideration that the committee came up with an increase in the budgetary allocation to enable the governor to carry out his five-point agenda.
The House at the committee of supply, subjected the budget estimates to clause-by-clause consideration and subsequently, approved an increase from the earlier proposed sum of N605 billion to N676 billion.
The Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, thereafter directed the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Yahaya Omogbai, to forward clean copies of the bill to the governor for his assent.
