EDO State University, Uzairue has awarded scholarship to 100 students of Edo State origin to enable them continue their educational pursuits in the institution.
The full scholarship award covers both fees and accommodations, while the other award category covers only fees..
Presenting the letters to the successful candidates, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dawood Egbefo said the scholarship award is for brilliant but less-privileged students of Edo State origin.
“These scholarships are designed to support students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and at the same time may face financial challenges in pursuing their education” Egbefo said.
The acting VC said the scholarship award which was established by the founding fathers of the institution is to give better lives to indigent and brilliant students.
He congratulated the awardees for their hard work, dedication and academic achievement and ur g ed them t o continue to excel in their academic pursuits and advised them to work hard to justify the award.
He, however, warned against any misconduct by the students, saying that any of them found wanting would have the scholarship withdrawn.
The Registrar, Mr. Habib Ekhalefo, expressed gratitude to the Edo State government for investing in the education of under-privileged students. He encouraged the beneficiaries to continue working hard to achieve excellence.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke, said they were delighted to benefit from the gesture. They said the scholarship would go a long way in supporting their educational pursuits.
