THE Vice Chancellor of University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke has said that effective leadership quality is a major corner stone for the success of every successful institution of learning and every organization.
Prof. Chiemeke made the remark in a welcome addressed during a one-day capacity building seminar which was organised by the D-Peterson Foundation, at the University of Delta, Owa Oyibu Campus in Ika North East Local Government Area.
She emphasized that the due to the changing factors in the present global education trend in the society, school administration presently is faced with a lot of challenge, which she said began from managing the available resources and the fostering of a positive learning environment to navigating complex quality issues in ensuring the students wellbeing.
While thanking the organisers of the event, Dr Donald Peterson and the D-Peterson Foundation for the program at the time of its immense need.
The UNIDEL Vice Chancellor stated that the program was design to equipped the participants with the essential knowledge, skills and the strategic needed to excell in their roles as school head for effective service delivery.
According to her she said that, the D- Peterson Foundation deserve a sincere appreciation for his vision and contribution to the development of education leaders in the society.
Noting that the support of D- Peterson Foundation in organizing the one-day Capacity Building Seminar for Schools in Ika Federal constituency was not only commendable, but should also be appreciated as a result of his understand of the vitat roles that education play in our society. She also used the opportunity to encourage the participants to ensure active sharing their experience by learning from one another, as the seminar, she said would serve as a platform for networking and exchange of best practices idea.
Pointing out that the knowledge gained from seminar would help them, particularly the school teachers to impact positive teaching on the life of their students.
Responding, the organiser of the seminar Dr. Donald Peterson said that, the reason for organizing the one-day learning seminar with the theme “ Effective Leadership Strategies For School Administration” and the unveiling of the D- Peterson Education Olympiad was born out of his philanthropic desire to motivate students into Keying into learning through research/creative learning processes.
He said that D- Peterson Foundation has for long been in forefront of promoting excellence in the education space in Ikaland.
Dr Donald Peterson, who is the Executiv e Assistant to Delta State Governor, Entrepreneurship Development said that, the Peterson Education Olypiad is a programme design with the vision to encourage and enthrone academic excellence in secondary school in order to bring back the glory of the old days.
The event which features academic training seminar was graced by distinguished personalities and notable academic scholars among whom are Patrick Ohikhens, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Wellspring University Benin city , Professor Hilary Ijeoma Owammah the Direction of Academic Planning at Delta State University , Abraka , the Executive Chairman of Delta State Post Primary Education Board Professor Emmanuel Tibi , Heads of Schools in Ika Federal constituency among others.
