With the completion of RETECH Foundation (RF) Power2schools programmes, and currently in the monitoring and evaluation phase, it’s Founder and Chairman, Engr. Ronye Egborge, has listed the positive impact of the programme on beneficiaries in Delta State, particularly, the Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs.
In the RETECH Foundation’s recent newsletter, Engr. Egborge disclosed that, “In spite of the positive impact, one group of beneficiaries we have not highlighted until now is the numerous Small and Medium Enterprises, SME’s that were engaged in the project.”
He said, over 30 SME’s were involved, including photographers, Videographers, Teachers, Logistics companies, suppliers of electronic and electrical materials, Plumbers, Masons, Solar system specialists and others.
The benefits of these SME’s, Engr. Egborge said include skills and capacity development, revenue growth and financial stability.
In addition to this, he said is that, the engagement promotes local economic impact, fosters economic growth, and creates jobs in the local communities.
“For us at the RETECH Foundation, partnering with SME’s has also made it possible to meet our scheduled completion date for the project as the SME’s we engaged were relatively flexible and responsive.
“Moreover, by engaging with the local SME’s, RETECH Foundation has built goodwill and strengthened relationship with stakeholders in the local communities where we operate,” he said.
Engr. Egborge expressed happiness that the solar systems RETECH Foundation installed and the ICT laboratories it refurbished and equipped at DSS, Dore Numa College, and Essi College 1 in collaboration with EDP, have been commissioned by the Delta State Government, and were having positive impact on the benefitting schools.
He disclosed that the project also saw the refurbishment of the water systems in the schools and connection of the solar system to the school’s water system.
