Urhobo socio-cultural group, Eguono Emo R’Urhobo, has presented an award to Ughelli-based philanthropist, Chief Willingson Adjarho-Imonijeta for excellence in community service.
Adjarho-Imonijeta was honoured during an end of year party of the Eguono Emo`Urhobo Union in Ughelli.
In an opening address, the President General of the union, Omiragwa Oderhohwo Joshua, said that the union’s paramount focus is to promote cultural heritage by imbibing the principles and ethics which our forefathers laid down for us as a nation.
In addition, he said that the union’s stance against youths’ lack of respect for elders in Urhobo, urging all sons and daughters of Urhobo Nation to cultivate the spirit of oneness and lifting one another.
The colourful ceremony had in attendance notable Urhobo sons and daughters from all walks of life.
This year’s distinguished awardee, Chief Adjarho Imonijeta, was chosen for his philanthropic gestures in his community and environs.
Presenting the award, the chairman of the occasion, Olorogun Simon Egbenana, lauded Chief Willingson Imonijeta for his philanthropy and numerous contributions to the advancement of his people and the Urhobo nation in general.
Receiving the award, Imonijeta and wife, Blessing Willingson, appreciated the Eguono Emo R’Urhobo Union for the recognition and promised to do more for the advancement of Urhobo Nation and Nigeria at large.
Other awardees included Chief Godspower Asiuwhu, General Ejiwealth Emareyi, among others.
