STAFF members of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka came to Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area to pay their last respects to the late Mrs. Felicia Owamah, mother of Prof. Hilary Owamah.
The dons were led by DELSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga. Present was Egwuyenga’s wife as well as numerous professors, friends and family members to condole their colleague.
Meanwhile, the funeral service took place at St Michael Anglican Church, Owa-Alero, and was graced by clergymen, several socio-cultural groups, and members of the Anglican Communion, among others.
The late Owamah, until her death, was a devout Christian, a community mobilizer and a teacher. She died at the age of 64 after a brief illness and is survived by children, in-laws, siblings, and relatives.
In his homily, Rev. Samuel Eboh said that death is inevitable, and the rich could go to hell while the poor can still make heaven, even as he recalled the Bible story of the rich man and Lazarus.
Rev. Eboh admonished the rich to extend a hand of fellowship to the poor while commending the late Felicia Owamah for singlehandedly raising her children to enviable heights.
In a tribute, the Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof. Egwunyega admonished the family to uphold the legacy their mother left behind while asking God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
