Ehiwarior Calls For Selfless Service

THE Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr Jerry Ehiwarior, has identified selfless service to humanity as the most important legacy one could bequeath to society.

He said it is important for people to seek out areas where they could selflessly affect the lives of others positively, especially the less-privileged members of society.

The Chairman, who spoke in Agbor at the unveiling of the 2024 edition of the Tony Onyeagwu Memorial Annual Football Tournament for public primary schools in the Local Government Area, noted that the positive impact one made while alive would always speak long after death.

He said the idea of a football tournament to identify and groom children was a great initiative from the family and friends of the late Tony Onyeagwu, whom he described as a philanthropist who did much to positively improve the lives of many.

“Though I never had a close relationship with him while he was alive, the testimonies of his philanthropic gestures and reports of his generosity are enough to console those he left behind.

“Most important is this initiative of an annual football tournament to keep his memory alive, and also opportune the young ones to exhibit their talents. I am happy we are going back to the primary school level to catch them young,” he said.

He commended the Onyeagwu family and friends of the late Tony Onyeagwu for coming up with what he described as, “a worthy deed to safeguard his memory”

He assured the family and organizers of the competition of the support of his administration in ensuring the success of the tournament.
