AS Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr to mark the end of the Ramadan fast, adherents of Islamic faith in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, have been urged to use the moment to reflect on the virtues of love, charity and peace.
The call was made by the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior while felicitating with Muslims.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Jonathan Onwuka, the Chairman said it was imperative for Muslim faithful to use the period to intensify their prayers for Nigeria for sustainable peace and progress
He highlighted the significance of the holy month in the promotion of peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, irrespective of religious and political affiliations, adding that the country desired peace, love and unity among the citizens, to be able to make meaningful progress and develop at a faster pace.
His words,”As we celebrate, let us be reminded of the need to putting the country first at all times, both in our actions and utterances. This is the only country we have, and we must do everything within our power to make it work, and be a better place for ourselves and generations to come.
“Let us always see ourselves as one, working together in love and forgiveness, in our efforts to build a verile and progressive society.
“For the Muslim community in Ika South Local Government Area, I urge you to remain steadfast, holding unto the lessons of the Ramadan fast, and imbibing the values of love, self discipline and kindness.
“May this celebration bring you and your families abundant blessings, joy and renewed vigour in your service to Allah and humanity.”
