EKPAN Secondary School, Ekpan, in Uvwie Local Government Area, yesterday, marked a significant milestone by hosting its Cultural Day celebration.
The event was attended by parents and well-wishers, who enjoyed colourful performances, cultural parades, and displays of different local delicacies, drama, storytelling, and crafts exhibitions performed by the students.
Giving his opening address, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, who is the Executive Director (Projects) at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), praised the school for organizing an event that exemplifies excellence and the role of cultural education in nation-building.
He encouraged students to take pride in their heritage, while promoting peace and unity in society.
In his speech, Okorodudu commended the great institution for doing well.
“Our children have also distinguished themselves as students who have subjected themselves to proper teaching and learning” Okorodudu emphasized the crucial role of parents in shaping young minds, stressing the importance of sacrifice and instilling values in their children. He also advised the children to be mindful of the type of company they keep. “The Bible says, ‘Faith comes by hearing.’ Faith to do good comes by hearing, and faith to do bad also comes by hearing.”
He assured the management staff of the school to be ambassadors to market the school to the state government.
