Encomiums As NDDC Celebrates International Women’s Day In Delta

NIGER Delta women have poured encomiums on the board and management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the Chairmanship of Chiedu Ebie.

The elated women who were participants at this year’s International Women’s Day celebration organized by the NDDC at the Ladyoak Cancer Center, Central Hospital, Agbor, Delta State, showered praises on the NDDC for making their welfare a top priority. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day was “Inspire Inclusion”.

The women in their separate remarks during the event expressed profound gratitude to the Chairman, Chiedu Ebie and the entire management of NDDC for deeming it to celebrate them on the special occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day.

The NDDC representative from Warri Office at the event and Special Assistant to the board Chairman, Hon John Aleh, who represented the Board Chairman in his speech, congratulated the women as they joined their mates all over the world to celebrate their day.

He noted that NDDC is out to take good care of people from the region, especially women and youths. While stating that NDDC is doing very well at the moment, he thanked the board for ensuring a successful celebration. He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the enabling environment for NDDC to thrive.

One of the guest speakers, Mrs. Ben-Utalor Goziem, who spoke on Girl Child Education said that women are the heart of the nation, hence, they should be equipped with sound education.

According to her, “It’s very important for the girl child to be educated. A good education is a strong foundation for the girl child. Education empowers women to succeed in all areas of life. An educated woman is disposed of with much information that will make her survive the challenges of today and tomorrow. She urged the government at all levels to continue to support the education of the girl child.

Another guest Speaker, Mrs. Akachi Blessing while speaking on the topic, “Healthy Living”, stated that women play diverse roles in society, so, it’s important they stay healthy all the time. She advised women to always engage in physical exercise, sleep well particularly at night, reduce or manage stress, go for regular checkups, maintain personal hygiene and eat an adequate and balanced diet.

Earlier, in her address, the Coordinator of Abba Charity Foundation, Mrs. Omome Osime-Oloyede called for more women inclusion in relevant affairs in the society and empowerment. The event was in conjunction with Abba Charity Foundation.

Among dignitaries present at the event were: the Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund, Hon (Engr.) Doris Uboh, wife of former chairman, Ika South Local Government Council, Mrs. Clara Ibude, wife of former vice-chairman, Ika South Local Government, Mrs. Rosemary Ogini and staff of NDDC.
