Ethiope Fed Constituency PDP Sends Strong Signal To APC Delta

•Passes Vote Of Confidence On Oborevwori

BY SUNDAY EGEDE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope Federal Constituency has sent strong signals to the major opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2027 general elections.

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the official inauguration of the executive members of Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum fired the first salvo by saying that the recent defection by the member representing the constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, will have no negative consequences on the political supremacy of PDP and that the vacant seat shall be reclaimed sooner than later.

He noted that the presence of all the shakers and movers in politics of Ethiope East and Ethiope West Local Government Areas at the EXCO inauguration, clearly indicated that the major opposition party in the state, APC, shall be relegated to the dustbin of political history come 2027.

Rt. Hon. Guwor stressed the need for all Deltans to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that his enviable achievements in mega infrastructure and socio-economic development across the state cannot be overemphasized.  The Speaker assured that Delta South, Delta North and Delta Central Senatorial Districts shall vote overwhelmingly for Governor Oborevwori and all PDP candidates in 2027, saying that opposition parties in the state are neither cold nor hot politically. He assured that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has not borrowed money from anywhere in the world, and will not borrow from any commercial bank or financial institution to fund projects in 2025, saying that the governor is a super technocrat and prudent manager of State resources. Mr. Speaker congratulated the Chairman of Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum and Chief Adviser to the State Governor, Sen Ighoyota Amori, and his team, urging them to firm up strategies that would completely delete APC from the political landscape of Ethiope Federal Constituency, and extension, Delta State.

In the same vein, the Delta PDP Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, assured the mammoth crowd that those who recently defected from the PDP in the constituency shall crawl back begging for the party’s membership card after the 2027 general elections, adding that their defection goes to no issue, as the defectors have no political structures to withstand PDP in a free, fair and transparent election in the state.

Chief Arenyeka commended Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership, hard work, dedication to duty, patriotism, political maturity and prudent management of state resources, urging Deltans to continue to support their “Street Credibility Governor” till May 29, 2031. The PDP State Chairman, expressed confidence in the leadership skills and competence of Sen Amori, saying that with him as Chairman of the Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum, the party would continue to sustain her supremacy in the Constituency and beyond.

Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Arthur Akpowowo, said Ethiope Federal Constituency remain a PDP stronghold, as can be seen from the calibre of political leaders and tacticians present at the Exco Inauguration, pointing out that those who defected to the opposition party in the state had unknowingly fractured their political career shamefully and dishonourably.

Akpowowo averred that PDP seat was vacated dishonorably by Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu as a result of her unlawful defection as contained in Section 68 (1)(g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, pointing out that the reasons she gave for defecting to the opposition party was and still unfounded, unacceptable and untenable.

Leader of PDP in Ughelli South, and construction giant, Chief John Oguma, said APC only exist on social media platforms in Ethiope Federal Constituency, and by extension, Delta State, noting that those who defected to the opposition party have no electoral value to challenge PDP in 2027.

Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, noted that APC Delta does not have the strength to win any local government area, come 2027, adding that Governor Oborevwori and the PDP shall sustain victory in the forthcoming general elections in the state. In his post inaugural address, the Chairman of Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum, Sen Ighoyota Amori, assured that the federal constituency is poised to crush APC Delta in the forthcoming elections, noting that the defected former member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu will not return in 2027 under any political party.  Chief Amori, who is also the Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, urged party leaders across the board not to relent in their efforts to consistently position the party for more wins at the polls, adding that the enviable performance of Governor Oborevwori will resonate with the electorate at the polls in 2027. The State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode gave a brief history of how the idea of Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum was conceived by Chief Ighoyota Amori in January and went further to say that come 2027, Deltans will vote overwhelmingly for flyover bridges, durable roads and other mega solid infrastructure built by Governor Oborevwori.

Leader of PDP in Ethiope East, Chief Bernard Edewor urged party faithful to remain united, saying that those who defected to opposition party derailed politically, and that the PDP will reclaim all vacant seats.

Highlight of the inauguration ceremony was a vote of confidence on the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori by Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum.  The motion was moved by a former member of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ben Igbakpa, and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo, while the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor symbolically hit the gavel to legitimize the process.
