THE immediate past councillor for Utagba Ogbe Ward in Ndokwa West Local Government, Henry Ejechi has recommended rotation for all leadership positions within the Umusadege Youths Association among the seven families of the community.
Ejechi, who is also the head (Ochiagha) of his age grade (Otu-Olile) further averred that the zoning formula would avert all forms of crisis and violence associated with the community youths elections.
He expressed regret over the destruction of property among the youths in their quest for leadership positions, saying “I prefer zoning of the positions to the various families for peace to reign as well as avert mayhem in future.
‘’I advise each family to adopt its method of producing the persons for the positions zoned to them” he said.
He counselled the community youths, particularly those aspiring to leadership positions, to shun all forms of violence and acts capable of causing chaos and insecurity in the town, pointing out that leaders of each of the families have the responsibility of coordinating and conducting their youths before, during and after the youths elections.
Speaking on the challenges and achievements of his Otu- Olile age grade, the Ochiagha explained that within one year and two months of their leadership, the age grade has attracted no fewer than 13 employment slots from the oil companies operating within their domain for the community youths, purchased six vehicles and established a vigilante for the community.
He listed other achievements to include construction of a 1.2 km road with another 1.5km road construction underway for the community. According to him, the age grade restored peace among the community youths and carried out regular orientation and sensitization of the community youths against violence and crisis.
Ejechi appreciated the various age grades, particularly the Ndugbu Age grade for their commitment and contributions to the peaceful and united atmosphere in the town.
