Ex-LG Chairman, Emeka Nmadu For Burial Today

THE mortal remains of Hon. Emeka Nmadu, publisher, former local government chairman and erstwhile General Manager of Delta State Tourism Board, will be interred today at his ancestral home in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

A statement by the family said the requiem mass and reception will hold at St. Mulumba College, Okpa­nam, while a service of his songs was held on Thursday at his residence, Benizia Hotel Road, Asaba.

Hon. Nmadu passed on recently after a brief illness.

A chartered accountant by training, Nmadu was the publisher, Delta Guide, a renowned compendium of eminent Deltans, former chairman of Oshimili North Local Government and erstwhile General Manager of Delta Tourism Board.

Born on November 30, 1962 in Okpanam, he at­tended St. Anthony’s College, Ubulu-Uku, for his secondary education, before proceeding to the then University of Ife, Ile-Ife, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, and the Enugu State University of Technology, ESUT, for his MBA.

He also earned the ACA in Accounting.

Nmadu worked at the Port Harcourt branch of the Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank, as Project Assistant , Marketing/ Sales Executive, Com­modity Merchants Nigeria Limited, Lagos; Research Analyst, Haisha Investments Limited, Lagos, and later, its General Manager, before disengaging in 1992.

He established Maltek Resources Limited of which he was Chief Executive Officer until his demise.

He was a member of the Inter-Ministerial Commit­tee on First Delta State Award for Excellence in 1995, originator and first Director, Delta Xmas Fair; Pub­lisher/ Editor- In- Chief, Nigeria States’ Guide series, publishers of Delta Guide compendium, past Presi­dent, Project 25 Club of Nigeria; founding mem­ber/ National Trustee, Organisation for the Advancement of Anio­ma Culture, OFAAC, and council member, Asaba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, since 2000.

Nmadu was also the pioneer General Man­ager of Delta Tourism Board (1999 to 2003).

As a politician, he was once Chairman of Oshi­mili North Local Gov­ernment. He is survived by a wife and children.
