AS the second term of the 2024/2025 academic session commences today across Delta State, Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has called for greater commitment by teachers and management of schools.
She said this during a phone interview with our correspondent where she emphasized the importance of dedication and commitment from educators to ensure the success of the academic term.
Ezewu commended teachers for their hardwork during the first term while urging them to build on what was achieved. She highlighted the critical role played by teachers in shaping the future of students and the overall development of the state.
“The success of our education system depends largely on the commitment of our teachers. As we begin this new term, I appeal to all educators to rededicate themselves to their duties and continue to uphold the high standards of teaching and learning in Delta State,” she said.
Ezewu while calling on teachers to do MORE, also addressed students, encouraging them to remain focused on their studies and embrace hard work and discipline. She reminded them that education is a vital tool for personal and societal growth.
The Commissioner urged parents to actively participate in their children’s education, as she stressed the importance of monitoring students’ academic progress and maintaining communication with schools to foster a collaborative effort in achieving educational excellence.
The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the education sector, citing ongoing investments in infrastructure, and capacity-building for teachers. She assured educators and students that the state government remains dedicated to creating an enabling environment for learning and teaching.
A source observed that “as schools resume across Delta State today for the second term, the commissioner’s message serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility among teachers, students, parents, and the government in building a greater education sector in the state.”
