Ezewu Emphasizes Leadership Excellence As ANCOPSS MCPT Programme Begins In Asaba

DELTA State Commissioner for Secondary Educa­tion Mrs. Rose Ezewu has underscored the pivotal role principals play in shaping the future of the nation through leadership and mentorship.

She said this during the 2024 All Nigeria Confed­eration of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Mandatory/Continuous Professional Training (MCPT) Programme for South-South Zone held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, yesterday.

Welcoming participants from across the South-South Zone, Mrs. Ezewu extended heartfelt appreciation to ANCOPSS for organizing the programme, she highlighted the significance of the event as a collective effort to ad­vance excellence in secondary education and enhance the professional competence of school principals.

According to the Commissioner, the training serves as a platform to equip school administrators with cutting-edge knowledge and skills necessary for navigating the challenges of modern education.

She commended the association for its dedication to building capacity and promoting professionalism among principals, noting that such initiatives are critical to the development of a robust education system.

However, she acknowledged the enormous responsi­bility borne by school heads in nurturing young minds and fostering a conducive learning environment, as she emphasized the necessity of continuous professional development to refine their administrative and mana­gerial capabilities, enabling them to meet the dynamic demands of their roles effectively.

The Commissioner charged the participants to actively engage in the sessions, share their experiences, and har­ness insights from the resource persons to address the pressing challenges in their schools. She stressed that the collective exchange of ideas during the programme would inspire innovative solutions and contribute sig­nificantly to improving secondary education standards across the region.

Ezewu, urged the principals to remain steadfast in their commitment to providing quality leadership, while highlighting the importance of offering mentorship and unwavering support to both teachers and students, even in the face of challenges.

Ezewu encouraged participants to take full advantage of the learning and networking opportunities provided by the programme, expressing optimism that the train­ing would result in actionable strategies to elevate the standards of secondary education in the South-South Zone and contribute to national development.
