Family Raises Alarm Over Threat To Son’s Life

A man simply identified as Mr Imasuen Osa of No. 14, Omoma Street, Off Oko Central, Benin City, Edo State has cried out to the law enforcement agencies and the media over the threat to the life of his brother, Imasuen Efosa by suspected assassins.

He said that he was being hunted over a case he had in America by those involved in the said case, adding that the people were using unknown armed men to locate and eliminate him.

Narrating his ordeal, the victim’s sibling, Mr Imasuen Edosa Osa, who was at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council to solicit help, said that his brother’s life-threatening encounter happened at about 7:23 am on September 9 2024, when some unknown armed thugs, fully masked came to his house at No. 14, Omoma Street, off Oko Central, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria in search of Imasuen Efosa.

He said that on the said day, while trying to open the gate to drive his kids to school, some unknown armed men came to his house, they pushed him into the compound and forcefully made him and his wife – Marian kneel and face the wall.

“They asked me the whereabouts of my brother (Efosa) whom they thought was around and I pleaded with them that he was not around but they did not believe me.

“They forced their way into my house while I was looking for the keys; they scattered and searched the entire house looking for my brother. While my wife and I pleaded to have mercy upon my brother, they repeated continuously as they searched through my house that Efosa must die, that they were paid to eliminate him.

“They damaged some of my properties in the process and left in anger and threatened that I should tell my brother – Efosa to continue to hide and that their cartel is everywhere and the search for him is all over the country that he must go down.” Going further, Edosa disclosed that the threats to his brother’s life have been a recurring decimal. He said one of the incidents happened on September 19 2023 when some armed men came to his house to look for his brother (Efosa) over a matter in faraway America.

“The armed men also came to look for Efosa sometime in May 2024 and in June 2024, respectively.

Asked whether he had reported to the police, he responded “All the search and threats to Efosa’s life have been reported to the police and I also commissioned my lawyer who wrote a petition in respect of the matter but the armed men are unknown and the police have not been able to get hold of them, this made it risky for my brother to return to Nigeria where threats to his life are still ongoing and his life is in grave danger,” he added.

When contacted, the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu confirmed the petition and said that investigation into the alleged threat to life is ongoing.
