The charge was given by the founder and Chief Executive Officer of FAHUF, Miss Freda Akpabio during the official handing over of walking aides to persons living with disability in Asaba.
Akpabio said that the Disability Empowerment Project was born out of her heart beat in ensuring that the disable ones in the society feel free to move around and do things at ease with their counterparts in the society.
She said it was aligns with their organization mission of uplifting lives and promoting inclusiveness.
Akpabio added ‘today is not just an event, it is a significant step towards building a society where everyone, regardless of ability, is given the opportunity to thrive’,
She said there was need to sensitized the public that the situation of the the disable is cause by nature and not their own making, hence the provision of walking aids, and empowerment, we aim to offer not just support but meaningful opportunities for persons with disabilities to achieve greater independence.
She express joy over the turn up and show of love by the council and councillor of Oshimili south while thanking their partners, supporters, and all those who have contributed to make the event a success.
Remember we can create lasting change in our environment through helping one and another and give help to those who need it most.
In a remark the Chairman, Oshimili South LGA, Hon. Dr. Ezenyili Kelvin represented by the vice chairman, Hon. Mrs. Chinye Uso advocate for the rights and inclusion of disabled persons in the society.
She urged the community to embrace individuals with disabilities, emphasizing that they are normal human beings deserving respect and dignity. “Disability does not diminish a person’s worth or potential,” she stated. “We must work together to create an inclusive society that recognizes the capabilities of every individual.”
Ezenyili commended the founder and team for bring sockur to the needy in the society.
The event held at Ndudi Elumelu Hall in Oshimili South Local Government Area was transformed into a hub of hope for persons living with disabilities.
The event featured the distribution of wheelchairs and clutches, to those in need, provides training and equipment for those interested in becoming barbers to acquire skills and generate income for the selves.
