Firm Trains Staff Of SSG’s Office On Team Cohesion

MEMBERS of staff at the Office of the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) were recipients of a team cohesion and leadership training conducted by a consulting firm, Forbs Consulting Limited, weekend.

The training, which was held at the conference room at the SSG’s office, dealt on enhancing team cohesion through effective communication skills in achieving team goals.

In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Emu, mentioned that the training was imperative for members of staff because the main thrust of the office is administration and to deliver value to the governor.

He stated that the training was to purge them of their ignorance, add value, improve their input, encourage them to take initiatives in the business of administration and overall training them to be good leaders.

Emu encouraged them to let go of the stereotypes in bureaucracy and the notion that their superiors were always right, even when wrong, in order to be good leaders and deliver on government policies and goals to drive the MORE Agenda of the State Government.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Forbs Consulting Limited, Dr Anthony Okocha, stated that the essence of the training was how to apply personal effectiveness in leadership and to improve team cohesion with the expectation of achieving better results.

Okocha mentioned that he expected participants to receive tips that they can take back to their various places of work to be able to improve their institution, as one of the outcomes of the training.

One of the resource persons, Mrs Felicia Udemezue, lectured participants on communication and types of communication skills necessary for team cohesion.

Participants present at the training include the Permanent Secretary of the office, Mr Anthony Abuah, Directors and Assistant Directors and other department heads.
