Flood: Don’t Wait Until You Are Overwhelmed, NOA Advises Delta Residents

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Delta State, has called on residents living in flood prone zones not to wait until they are overwhelmed by flood before they start moving to safer places.

This call followed NiMet warning to states that will be affected by flood.

NOA Director in Delta State, Mrs. Tracy Ikolomi, who spoke to journalists at the Federal Secretariat in Asaba also revealed that there was a directive for all stakeholders to ensure that residents are put on flood alert, saying that the agency is working tirelessly with partners to inform the public that the flood is imminent, and “we can do better by ensuring that we are safe.”

According to Ikolomi, “one of the flood alerts we are campaigning is to let residents know that there are some areas that are prone to flooding, residents there should start moving ahead of time, they should not wait until the flood has overtaken them”.

” Since there is already warning from NiMet, residents around flood prone zones should be proactive and ensure that they move to higher and safer grounds and further ensure that their property too are safe”
