Flood: Eagle Chaplain Corps Mobilises Officers To Support Govt’s Efforts

THE Commandant-General of the Eagle Chaplain Corps (ECC), Commander Sylvester Obi has disclosed that the command has mobilised it’s officers to support the Delta State government’s efforts at assisting flood victims in all the local government areas of the state.

The commandant-general disclosed this while addressing journalists in Asaba as floods take over riverine areas of the 25 local government areas of the state.

Among the local government areas already affected in Delta State are Oshimili South, Ndokwa East, Isoko South, Ughelli South, Oshimili North, Isoko North, Warri North, Burutu, Bomadi etc. He explained that the chaplain has hundreds of officers in all the local government areas and was determined to offer necessary assistance to save life and properties.

According to him, the chaplain had partnered with the state government in the past to address flood problems and was ready to still offer or volunteer their services this period of distress in riverine communities.

Mr. Obi also pointed out that the chaplain had partnered the state in the area of addressing out of school children and school security concerns, stressing that the officers were on standby 24-hours to assist in any emergency situation.

He called on the state government to expedite actions in implementing measures to ameliorate the impact of flood on riverine dwellers.
