Former PDP LGA Secretaries Laud Party Leadership, Call For Inclusivity

The immediate past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government Secretaries across the 25 councils of the state have lauded the leadership of the party for standing by them even after their tenures as local exco leaders had ended.

This was disclosed when the Local Government Secretaries, who served from 2020 before the expiration of their tenures in 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, and the Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr Isaac Wilkie.

The delegation, led by Chief Simon Asite (former Secretary, Ughelli North); Former Secretary and now Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Comr. Harrison Ekeleme (Sapele); Chief Harrison Veta (Udu), and BalogunOnena (Ughelli South), who represented other members, commended the SSG and the Commissioner for Water Resources for their commitment to ensuring that their dues got to them.

Chief Asite also praised the leadership of former Governor Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and current Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, acknowledging their dedication to fair treatment for both past and present party executives. He also appealed for inclusivity in the current administration, after the success of the party in the recent elections.

In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, thanked the Secretaries for the visit, whilst recalling their encounter leading up to the last general elections in the State.

He commended them for their commitment to the cause of the party in ensuring that the party emerged victorious and continued to sustain its dominant status in the State as the number one political party.

Dr Emu also encouraged the Ex-Secretaries to remain committed to the party whilst being patient for opportunities to become available so they can position themselves, assuring them that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori would not disappoint them.

“I want to assure you that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is a very compassionate leader who is very passionate about the welfare and sacrifice of his people to the cause of the party, remain committed and you will reap the fruits of your labour”, he said.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Water Resources Dr. Isaac Wilkie praised the group for their generous contribution and role played as members of the party in the 2024 election.

He expressed satisfaction for their gestures as he urged them to work together in unity to keep the relationship in check.
