Foundation Empowers Youth With Digital Skills

…As Orogun Chief Calls For ICT Development In Region

By Rita Oyiboka

A Traditional Prime Minister of Orogun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Do-Good Efe-Nogo, has urged the Delta State Governor, the Rt. Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori to address the ICT deficit in the region.

He made the statement recently during the Orogun Youth Empowerment Summit (O-YES ’24) sponsored by the Ejiro & Otive Igbuzor Foundation, in collaboration with the Palace of Priests Assembly.

The summit, spanning from July 29th to September 7th, is facilitated by Dr. Foster Akpore with support from Pastor Anthony Chukwuneme and Fidelis Onakpoma and provided training to over 100 participants in Digital Readiness, Graphic Design, Video Editing, and Content Creation.

Speaking during the empowerment program at the Aragba town hall in the region, the President and Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, emphasized his commitment to transforming society, stressing the importance of equipping the youth with digital skills to thrive in today’s economy. “The future belongs to those who are prepared to leverage technology for innovation and growth. By investing in digital education, we are not just empowering individuals but also fostering the overall development of the community,” he added. Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Chief Do-Good Efe-Nogo expressed concern over the inadequate ICT facilities in Orogun Kingdom.

“This lack of resources puts our young people at a disadvantage compared to their peers in more developed regions.  “There is a need for a fully equipped Computer-Based Test (CBT) center and enhanced ICT resources in schools across the kingdom,” he said.

Efe-Nogo called on the community and government to collaborate in equipping the youth with the necessary technology to ensure a brighter, sustainable future for all.
