Friends Seek Whereabouts Of Amalime, Lagos Lawyer, Entertainment Exponent, Activist

Friends and relatives of a Lagos-based lawyer, entertainment exponent, and civil rights activist, Amalime Charity Omigho have bemoaned the continued absence of their loved one few months after security operatives stormed her residence.

Amalime, reportedly from Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State, is reportedly being hunted in connection with her recent comments over the #EndSARS protest by Nigerian youths.

The protest was against police harassment, unlawful arrest and brutalization of youths in cities across the country.

Briefing newsmen in her Lagos residence, Block 77A Plot 18 Prince Ogadi Adekunle Street, Divine Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, a family friend of the missing lawyer, who simply identified herself as Cynthia Adeyemi said they were still in shock over the development.

According to her, Amalime returned home after the day’s work sometime in June 2024 and was confronted by men suspected to be security agents.

“We were told that the men were in her office to look for her earlier in the day but met her absence”, she said.

She explained further to reporters that in the scuffle that followed, and gunshots fired by the men, neighbours ran helter skelter looking for where to hide.

The family friend said that when normalcy returned, Amalime, a socialite, was nowhere to be found, adding that they have made several unsuccessful efforts to locate her.

Cynthia sought the assistance of members of the public in locating the whereabouts of their friend and sister.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Lagos State was yet to issue statement at the time of this report.
