THE Chairman of Fulani Cattle Rearers in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Alhaji Garuba Abubakar, says the group will continue to ensure peaceful co-existence between Fulani herdsmen and their host communitiy.
He made the remarks shortly after the payment of compensation to a farmer whose farm was destroyed by cows in Ogwashi-Uku.
While describing the residents of the area as peace loving, he said he will continue to work with his team to ensure continuous peace in the area.
Garuba said he does not want crises between the herdsmen and the residents of the area, hence he would always ensure that farmers whose farms are damaged, must be compensated, in the interest of peace.
While saying that cattle rearers and farmers were the same family of food providers. He therefore called on cattle rearers in the area to be careful in their activities and never to allow their cattles to destroy peoples’ farms.
Alhaji Garuba said farmers whose farms were destroyed should reach him at Hausa Quarters, Ogwashi-Uku, for proper inspection and possible compensation.
The farmer who was compensated, Mr. Perry Omai, described Alhaji Garuba as an honest man that has the interest of the area at heart. He said the compensation he received was not enough to cover his loss, but he was happy at the gesture.
