THE Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has challenged Nigerians in the diaspora not to lose focus on their root (Nigeria), but strive to contribute meaningfully towards its overall growth and development by channeling their investments to Nigeria, particularly Delta State.
Rt Hon Guwor who gave the charge while attending a ceremony organized by Nigerians In Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDOA), in Atlanta Georgia, USA, called for increased collaboration by Nigerians abroad towards achieving a stronger, stable and prosperous Nation.
In his remarks at the event put together by the Atlanta Chapter of NIDOA as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, the Speaker enjoined the people to remain committed to the development of their father-land.
While Saying that their contributions, expertise, and resources were vital to the progress of the nation, the Speaker who as represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, urged Nigerians abroad to harness their collective potentials instrumental in driving the nation’s socio-economic transformation.
He commended members of the Organization which cuts across different states and tribes in Nigeria for their unity, strength and love for one another just as he urged them to sustain same in their quest and desire to contribute to the country’s growth and development.
Guwor said, “As we celebrate this milestone, let us reflect on our collective aspirations for a prosperous Nigeria. We must continue to work together to address our nation’s challenges and harness opportunities for growth.
“As a people, we must honour the nation’s progress, and every one of us have pivotal roles to play in promoting the nation’s interests globally”, Guwor emphasized.
Rt Hon Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, also, charged Nigerians abroad to do more in fostering economic ties, cultural exchange, and knowledge transfer between Nigeria and the United States of America just as he stressed the need for them explore ways to invest in the country, particularly in Delta State, to boost economic growth and job creation.
The Speaker congratulated a Deltan, Dr Victor Azuka Ubani, a US based Medical Practitioner and Philanthropist who was honoured at the ceremony with the “Outstanding Citizen in Leadership Award” in recognition of his commitment and unwavering dedication for a better society.
He described the award as well deserved, maintaining that the achievement demonstrates the excellence and resilience that define Deltans.
