Hardship: No Politician With Conscience Will Join APC –Tambuwal

THE former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has expressed disappointment over the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tambuwal stated that no politician with conscience would join the APC, given the country’s current economic hardship and poverty.

Speaking to journalists after the North-West Zonal meeting of the PDP in Kaduna, Tambuwal attributed the defections to “stomach infrastructure” rather than any genuine concern for the people’s welfare.

He noted: “People leave parties for various reasons, but the defections I’ve observed lately are not driven by the people’s interest, but by personal gain as hunger bites harder.”

Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, questioned the logic behind such defections, asserting that no politician with conscience would align with the APC, especially given its policies and the economic struggles Nigerians are facing.

He reiterated that “I believe no one with conscience will join the APC. With the current policies of the APC-led government, the economic hardships it has caused, the suffering across the country, and the poor performance of Tinubu’s administration, there is nothing appealing other than personal gain.”

He added that defections driven by personal gain are a source of concern, but called for unity among those who truly care about the country to ensure the defeat of the current administration in 2027.

“We must unite and work towards voting out this administration in 2027, which lacks focus, compassion, and direction,” he said.

Tambuwal urged PDP members and other Nigerians to join forces in the effort to oust the APC in the upcoming election.

Meanwhile, the North-West PDP has pledged to unseat the APC in the next election.

In a communiqué read by the North-West Zonal Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bello Gwarzo, the party promised to swiftly address all conflicts at the national level.
