Ideh, Others Inducted Into Anglican Knighthood

A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Obororevwori, Office of the Director-General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Sir Amb. Felix Ideh and 36 other members of the Anglican Communion of the Asaba Diosces has been inducted into the Order of Knighthood of  St. Christopher and St. Mary.

Speaking during a reception organized for guests and well-wishers after their investiture by the Bishop of Asaba Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Kingsley Obuh, the governor’s aide said that the recognition was a call to higher responsibility and to serve God, the church and humanity.

Sir Amb. Ideh, who hails from Amachai Quarters, Okpanam, pledged to continue to serve God and the church with all sincerity, adding that it was a thing of joy to be honoured.

He recalled that Anglican Church in Ogun and Lagos States had honoured him several years ago, stressing that he was commissioned as a Lay Reader of the Anglican Church, Diocese of Lagos West in July 12, 2012.

Sir Ideh, however, advised Christians to have faith in God, stressing that they should have trust in God and also believe in the power of the efficacy of prayers for them to rekindle their work towards the spread of the gospel.

While saying that Christianity was under threat of extinction, Sir Ideh explained that Nigeria was passing through difficult period that required prayers for the leaders to have a change of heart to use her resources to develop the nation.

Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop of Ika Diocese, Rt. Rev. Godfrey Ekpenisi, whose message anchored on the ills of the society, urged new Knights to fight against such ills for the overall good of the society.

He listed some of the ills to include prostitution, adultery, armed robbery, kidnapping, banditry and others, just as he reminded them that as  ambassadors of Christ, defend your faith,  spread the gospel and contribute in building the church.

In an interview with journalists, some of respondents Mr. Christopher Okolugbo and Hon. Hilary Okobi described the honour as well deserved.

Okolugbo specifically asserted that Sir Amb. Ideh had been following the part of the Lord, saying that as a Knight, it was the highest recognition one could attain in the church.

The wife of the celebrant, Mrs. Nkiruka Ideh appreciated the church for finding her husband worthy of the honour.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Okpanam/Ugbolu ward 9, Engr. (Elder) Augustine Obiekea and other well-meaning individuals from Okpanam.
