Igbine Vows To Reposition The Pointer For Better Competitiveness

…Commends Oborevwori For Good Governance

The new Chairman of the Board of Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC), publishers of The Pointer, Pastor Austin Igbine has vowed to reposition the media outfit for enhanced competitiveness in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

Pastor Igbine, who was recently inaugurated by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, made the pledge while interacting with journalists at the corporate headquarters of the state-owned print media outfit in Asaba, the state capital, today.

Among other things, Pastor Igbine said he would deploy his vast expertise and experience in management, both in the public and private sectors to actualize the mandate entrusted in his care in line with the MORE Agenda.

While soliciting the cooperation of staff members of the establishment, Pastor Igbine urged them to become more committed and diligent in discharging their duties, just as he challenged them to shun the lackadaisical attitude often associated with civil servants.
He commended the immediate past Board Chairman of DPPC, Olorogun (Dr) Ebenezer Okorodudu, who is currently the Executive Director of Projects at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Agency (DESOPADEC), for his legacies at The Pointer.

‘’I am coming with a private sector mindset because that is the only way you (The Pointer) can favourably compete with your competitors. You may not have all the facilities you need for now but if you believe that you can succeed, no matter the limitations, we can work from there to higher standards of performance.

‘’But if we do not have the drive to leave the mediocrity often associated with civil service operations, it will be difficult’’ he said, even as he promised to ensure the necessary motivation for optimal performance among staff.

While appraising the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of his second anniversary since assuming office on May 29, Pastor Igbine commended the governor for his giant strides in infrastructure, human capital development, wealth creation, education, and other spheres of governance.

The DPPC Board Chairman further called on Deltans to rally around Governor Oborevwori in ensuring the continued development of the state, even as he cautioned against acts capable of bringing the state in public disrepute.
