Ika South LG Chairman, Ehiwarior, Assures NUT Of Partnership

THE Chairman of Ika South Local Government of Delta State, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, on Tuesday in Agbor, promised the teachers in the Local Government of his administration’s readiness to partner with them

Ehiwarior, made the promise when he received in audience the leadership of the local government area branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers ( NUT), led by Comr. Isaac Arimokwu.

Holding teachers as strategic in the education sector, he said that the partnership would strive to enhance the quality of education in the area by resolving the challenges inhibiting its efficiency.

The Chairman said he shared in the dream of the NUT in the area for enhanced quality of education in the school system in the area and pledged the cooperation of the local government with the union leaders.

He commended the union, particularly its leaders for its efforts in raising pupils who are the greatest assets of any society.

According to him, the role of teachers and the union and its leadership in the education sector could not be over emphasized, stressing, “ we are all products of teachers and the onus is on us to advance education in our dear local government area.”

Ehiwarior equally commended the union members and leaders for their role in the recent local government polls in the area.

He said he was deeply appreciative of the union for the timely visit.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NUT in the area, Comrade Isaac Arimokwu, said the visit was to congratulate Engr. Ehiwarior and his Vice, Mrs Glory Onyeagbor, on their recent election success and to seek their cooperation in the union’s desire for enhanced efficiency of the basic school system in the area.
