THE Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Amba Umoren Udo has affirmed the commission’s readiness to boost voters registration in the state to enable those who have attained the age of 18 to cast their votes as well as those who had lost their voters card to replace them.
Udo made affirmation when he led staff of the commission on a familiarization visit to the Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Emma Chinye to intimate him on the new voters’ registration exercise to kick start soon.
The REC thanked Hon. Chinye for receiving them on a short notice, explaining that he was on a familiarization tour round the 25 local government areas across the state, so as to be able to liaise with the INEC officers at the grassroots to further boost voter registration.
He pointed out that the importance of adequate sensitization for the fresh INEC registration being conducted, as it gives opportunity for those who were eligible to vote, but for one reason or the other do not have a functional voter’s card; to register for one.
In response, the chairman thanked the inec resident electoral commissioner and his team for their visit, explaining to them that he had begun sensitization already for the fresh voters’ registration exercise even before they came as he understands the importance of voters to be properly registered.
Chinye assured the INEC commissioner that Aniocha North was a home of peace and that the INEC staffs working in Aniocha North local government will have nothing to fear in terms of security, promising to go on a working visit to the INEC office in Issele-Uku metropolis at the coming week. He disclosed that his vision to rebuild Aniocha North embraces everything necessary including proper sensitization for voter’s registration and to promote peace, development and progress.
