THE Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Hon Anthony Ofoni, has authorized the restriction of tricycle operation in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State with effect from Monday, September 16, 2024.
The local government boss, who disclosed this during an interview with newsmen on the occasion of the swearing- in ceremony of the new Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), said the step became necessary as part of an effort to curb insecurity and crime in the local government area.
Hon. Ofoni disclosed that tricycle operators would be expected to move in Uvwie between 5 am to 10 pm.
Speaking further, he emphasized his commitment to Uvwie peace and affirmed that “nobody would be spared as punishable measures are already in place to deal with defaulters”.
A local government staff and resident in Uvwie, who gave her name as Madam Rosemary, hailed the gesture by the chairman, while recounting a sad criminal experience she had with a tricycle operator on her way back from a night vigil in church.
