A coalition of socio-political groups, the Integrity Group of Delta State, the MORE Agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation Ambassadors have commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for helping to boost electricity in Asaba and its environs.
The Convener of Integrity Group, Dr. OkeIdawene, who spoke in reaction to improve electricity supply in Asaba, during an interview with journalists, noted that he was elated to note that electricity supply has improve tremendously in Asaba and its environs in the recent time giving credence to Oborevwori’s intervention.
Recall that on assumption of office last year, Governor Oborevwori had intervened in the epileptic power supply in the capital city by directing the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to improve electricity supply in the area.
In compliance to the directive, BEDC now increased electricity supply to many areas, which hitherto experienced average of one or two hours of electricity or lack of it, now enjoying as far as 10 to 12 hours of power supply daily.
The convener of the Integrity Group, while expressing appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his intervention, noted that the improved electricity supply has rekindled the hopes of residents whose economic and social lives had been increased drastically.
“Today, despite the biting economic hardship, Governor Oborevwori is making lives less burdensome. As I speak many people in Asaba and environs now enjoy relative electricity supply because of the directive of the governor to the BEDC on the need to improve electricity supply.
“Businesses have been revived as many small scale enterprises are thriving despite the high cost of fuel and cooking gas. The governor is also intervening in other sectors of the economy like agriculture by supplying inputs such as poultry feeds and birds to farmers, fertilisers to farmers”, he said.
