Int’l Day Of The Girl Child: A-WIN Distributes Over 100 bags, Writing Materials To Primary Schools In Nri Community

IN commemoration of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, a Non0Governmental Organisation, All for Women Initiative Nigeria, (A-WIN), has distributed over one hundred bags and writing materials to primary schools in Nri community, Anaocha council area of Anambra state.

The gesture tagged ‘Back to School Kids Initiative’’ was sponsored by Dr. Joy Nwufoh through A-WIN whose mission and vision are to inculcate the right morals in the girl child and empower women to achieve greater heights.

The group, led by the founder of the NGO, Comrade Stella Igboka, before visiting the schools at Nri paid a courtesy visit to the Regent of Nri Ancient Kingdom, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh at his palace and intimated him of their plans of suiting up poor and vulnerable kids in the rural communities as a way to complement state government’s efforts in the education sector.

Comrade Igboka who is also the president of the foundation, explained that A-WIN, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, selected Urorije Migrant Farmer’s school, Community Primary School and Nri-Jiofor Primary school all in Nri as education centres for the poorest of the poor thus their reason of visiting the school to alleviate the learning conditions of the pupils.

She commented on Dr. Joy Nwufoh, for her contributions to the educational development of Nri children.

Responding, Prince Onyesoh expressed delight that the women have consistently increased their support for the girl child and women development, assuring his full commitment to the success of the project.

He called on other well-meaning Nigerians to reach out to the vulnerable members of the society through A-WIN to ensure they actualize the values for their donations.

Addressing the pupils at each of the schools visited, a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Njide Ezeonyejiaku and a former President, National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, Anambra State Chapter, Mrs. Oby Obodozie emphasize the need to educate and empower the girl child to grow into a responsible citizen and functional members of the society who can compete favourably with their male folk and accomplish their aspirations.
