Isoko South Chairman Pledges Improved Teachers’ Welfare Amid Economic Challenges

Amidst the economic challenges in the country, the Isoko South Local Government Chairman, Comrade Ovoke Friday has pledged to prioritize teachers’ welfare. The Chairman made this known recently in a meeting with the leadership of the Isoko South wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) at his office in the local government Secretariat, Oleh. He emphasized the importance of teachers being rewarded while they are alive and further pledged to reciprocate their efforts by ensuring regular payment of their salaries, infrastructural development and provision of learning materials.According to him, his administration has good plans for the education sector, especially as it relates to the Agricultural sector, adding that the local government intends to partner with teachers to look towards agriculture across schools and provide instructional materials as well.

He commended them for their sacrifice and diligence and reiterated his commitment to pay salaries as and when due, despite the economic challenges facing the nation

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Isoko South Chapel of the NUT, Daniel Odhomo, applauded the Local Government Chairman for his interest in education and his prompt payment of last month’s salary.

He appealed for support in constituting an education board, providing pay slips, paying promotion arrears and addressing dilapidated school buildings. “I want to use this medium to assure the council chairman of our unalloyed support and congratulate him for his election victory “.

“On behalf of the leadership of the Union, we will continue to work hard for the local government to occupy its place of pride in the field of education”.
