Palestinian officials have reported that Israeli fire during military raids in the occupied West Bank resulted in the deaths of 10 Palestinians, including four teenagers, and injured another 10.
This escalation comes as world leaders scramble to prevent tensions in the Middle East from boiling over into a regional war.
In a separate incident, an Israeli airstrike on a village in southern Lebanon killed four people, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. In response, Lebanon’s Hezbollah launched a drone attack on northern Israel, wounding at least seven people, in retaliation for the killing of one of its fighters.
This exchange is part of a near-daily pattern of strikes between Israel and Hezbollah over the past 10 months, amid the ongoing war in Gaza.
Egyptian and Turkish leaders are working to prevent the conflict from spreading, following the recent killings of a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and Hamas’ top political leader in Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel is already engaged in a “multi-front war” with Iran and its proxies.
The situation in Gaza has taken a dire turn, with the only corridor for humanitarian aid shut down due to fighting in the area. The Palestinian territory is facing a severe humanitarian crisis, exacerbating the need for urgent diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
