THE Chairperson, Association Against Child Sexual Abuse and Gender Base Violence, Mrs. Eris Jewo-ibi, has called for the total elimination of gender base violence especially against women and girls.
Jewo-ibi made the call during the celebration of International Day for the elimination of violence against women and girls which held at Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba. She said, the elimination of violence should be carried out from community to community as it tends to be more serious in some rural areas.
However, Jewo-ibi said the 16 days campaign was aimed to bring awareness to the people on the dangers of violence.
While speaking to newsmen, she stated that there was need to bring awareness to women and girls on how to be empowered financially, psychologically and emotionally to be able to stand strong and not to be intimidated, adding that, they must be ambitious.
Also speaking, a member of United Nations women empowerment in the state, Prof. Josephine Alomana, expressed delight in the turnout of female folks, said the event would help enlighten persons faced with abuse of any kind, adding that it was their duty to help humanity, help everybody and also help families so as to stop gender base violence.
