Keke Riders Allege Harassment By DESTMA At Ogbeogonogo Market Keke Riders Allege Harassment By DESTMA At Ogbeogonogo Market

Commercial tricycle operators, while alleging harassment by DESTMA officials in the Ogbeogonogo Market axis of Asaba, called on the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure to intervene.

They made their grievances known while speaking with our correspondent.

Some of the commercial tricycle operators pleaded with the transport commissioner to come to their aid, saying officials of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) maltreat them without justification.

They said parking is a huge  challenge  due to the absence of specified road signs by the traffic managers.

Mr. Emeka Okeleke said he was once “a victim of the high handedness of the uniformed men for dropping passengers at a well-known bus stop, ‘Nicab.”  He called on the commissioner to call them to order.

Another person who also spoke to our reporter said the wheelbarrow pushers have taken advantage of the long distance to charge the public  huge amounts of money to move their goods from the point of purchase to where they were allowed to board tricycles.

Others who spoke also called on the Commissioner of Police to checkmate the activities of officers of the Nigeria Police Force, who engage in collecting bribes from keke riders.
