IN a new drive to sanitise major roads and public spaces within the Delta State Capital Territory, the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency’s Environmental task force team, has sensitized Keke riders to adhere to directives against indiscriminate parking on major roads, noting that they are only allowed to park, drop and pick-up passengers at designated terminals.
Addressing the Keke riders recently, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, Head of Environment of the Agency said the warning became necessary to restore sanity on major roads and protect the lives of residents who are exposed to danger when some Keke operators flout the state government’s directives and constitute nuisance on major roads with indiscriminate parking.
According to Nwosu, “The state government warns that Keke riders can only park, pick and drop passengers at designated areas in the capital Territory. Those who continue to flout the rule will face corresponding sanctions. This move of today is to restore sanity to our major roads and also protect the lives of our people who are endangered by the unruly conduct of some Keke riders who park, drop and pick passengers indiscriminately.”
He maintained that the sensitization was in line with the on-going sensitization program of ‘Secure, Clean and Green’ the capital Territory, through which the government engendered respect for law and order, cleanliness and sanity in public spaces across the capital Territory.
