A youth in his 20s, Ekene Osadebe has been abducted by unknown gunmen .
The victim, an indigene of Udoh in Ubulu-Uku community was reported to have fallen a victim to the criminals when he went to visit a friend somewhere in the quarter
The family source explained that the victim was abducted at the entrance gate of the person he went to visit and since the incident occurred few days ago, no contact has been made by his abductors.
Our source, who spoke but chose not to be named noted that the victim’s family were apprehensive of reporting the matter to the security agents for fear of the young man’s life.
But the source who expressed worry over the delay by the suspected kidnappers to contact the family of the victim, noted that they are already counting days since the incident happened.
“I am apprehensive about the way the matter is going. If the abductors are kidnappers, it is expected that they would have made contact with the family members by now.
“As it stands now, nothing has been heard. When we got across to the victim’s mother, she said she was advised against reporting the matter to the security agents.
“I wonder how she hopes to solve the problem without intimating the police. I don’t think this is something the community vigilante can handle alone, even though they are adjudged to be good in their security job”, he said.
Recall that a gang of kidnap syndicate had for some months laid siege on Ogwashi-Uku community and its environs, kidnapping, killing and maiming residents of the metropolis.
The hoodlums had recently met their waterloo when they engaged the police in a shootout that led to four of them being neutralized as stated by the police spokesperson in Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe.
Some other sources had alleged that a new group of hoodlums operating in a manner similar to that of those who were eliminated might have emerged and are currently threatening the peace in Ubulu-Uku community.
