A dare-devil syndicate operating within Ogwashi-Uku appears to have laid siege on the community, The Pointer reports.
This followed the killing of the first son of a top police officer in Ogwashi-Uku Area Command, and abduction of his younger brother.
Also falling victim to the kidnappers was a leading member of a Sabbath Church, who was murdered in cold blood by the criminals.
Local security sources said the man was killed in the presence of his wife, who was abducted alongside her husband, while a huge sum of money was taken from the woman via cash and through POS.
Findings indicated that the two sons of the police officer were waylaid somewhere around Agidiase axis shortly after returning from church where they had gone for evening service.
Our sources said that the two were taken unawares. “It was while the first son tried to beat an escape that he was gunned down and they took away his younger brother.
“It was along their escape route they came to the Sabbath Church that is located off Ogbe-Onicha farm road. They stormed the place and met the church members carrying out a kind of audit account.
“They forcefully made away with the people they met at the spot, including the man who was later killed and his wife dispossessed of a huge sum”, he said.
Further information from the security source revealed that the kidnappers who succeeded in abducting about seven people in all eventually freed three of the victims and made away with three, which also included the son of the top police officer in Ogwashi-Uku Area Command.
Further findings showed that among those freed were two women and an elderly man.
Meanwhile, another resident of Ogwashi-Uku community was yesterday abducted somewhere off Agidiehe farm road.
Although the circumstances surrounding the abduction remainedhazy at the time of filing this report, unconfirmed information indicated that the hoodlums maight be the same gang of kidnappers terrorizing Ogwashi-Uku and environs.
