Kidnappers Strike Again

A popular bar owner in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis, simply identified as Austin has been abducted by suspected kidnappers.

Available information indicates that the victim was kidnapped at about 10pm while going home.

He was said to have been abducted somewhere behind the popular Africa House owned by late Special Envoy to then President Olusegun Obasanjo on Conflict Resolution, Chief Ralph Uwechue.

Findings from a local vigilante source, who confided in our correspondent, revealed that the victim resides outside where he was kidnapped.

Our source said the hoodlums succeeded in making an escape with their victim before they could get to the scene of the crime following a tip off from a Good Samaritan.

Information hinted that the victim was stopped by the hoodlums who were armed to the teeth, forcing him to come down from his vehicle, after leaving holes in the four tyres of his car with gun shots.

It was also learnt that the hoodlums shot sporadically into the air to scare residents of the area and passerbys away before escaping with their victim.

Recall that following the abduction of various persons in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis in recent times, a tight security was deployed to the community to enhance the security network.

Besides, the military, policemen alongside the Delta State Security Volunteer Corps, otherwise known as Ogwashi-Uku vigilante group have been on routine patrol within the locality to forestall further kidnapping.

But a resident of the area, who craved anonymity as it is a security matter, maintained that the security agents for some time now have been able to checkmate the criminals, adding that the recent incident simply proves that the criminals have not totally abandoned criminality.
